There are hundreds of simple processes that can be done on injured or sick individuals to help them recover. These are called "assists."

An Assist works by restoring communication between the being (a spirit) and his or her body, or the environment. Assists can save lives.

For example, if you ever stumble upon someone who has just died — a drowning victim — perhaps, if you act quickly (before the brain is damaged from lack of oxygen) you can sometimes "bring them back" because the being is still in contact with the body. if you know the person's name, shout his name and command him loudly to "get back here and bring this body to life." The Bring Back to Life assist is shown in an LRH film entitled Assists which now can only be seen within the CoS. But there you go, I just gave you the tech of this VERY simple and easy to do assist that can save someone's life.

Some of the most well known assists include the Touch Assist, Locational, Nerve Assist, Body Comm, Hellos and Okays, and many more. There are also assists for people who have suffered a loss and even an assist for a couple (husband and wife) who has just had a fight (which can sometimes be traumatic).

Some day a Scientologist should open a center across from a hospital offering Assists to walk ins. They'd get plenty of traffic and help a lot of people since doctors frankly are not focused on restoring communication, yet this is a major issue in the recovery process.

There was a book published for Assists in the early 1990s which included more than 100 assists, explaining how to do each one all nicely indexed. This is a great book to have if you can find out.

Once I was deathly nauseous. I got a Touch Assist and the condition vanished suddenly in a matter of minutes. Another time I got poison ivy and got a series of assist over 4 days that got rid of the condition. Each day after the assist, the area of irritation "relocated" along my arms and legs, and finally to hands, fingers and then it was gone.
Assists work well on any kind of injury. I helped a person recover from a brain injury — he was in a coma.
I gave him a series of assists and he came out of the coma.
I have brought a person who was unconscious due to being thrown out of a car in a car wreck, back to consciousness: she was lying in the middle of a highway. I ran up to her, started an assist and she came to.
I've helped several people who were dazed by car wrecks and in shock, back into a more livable, alert, calm state.
I helped one man who had apparently suffered a heart attack back up the emotional scale from near death, to fear. I could have helped him further, but got interrupted by others. Who knows what might have happened to him if I hadn't been there.
I helped one lady who passed out in a parking lot flat on her back. She came to and couldn't believe what I'd just done. People are usually amazed and grateful when rescued like that.
I have helped my infant daughter many times with the Locational Assist using the command, "Touch that...". She loves them and now does them naturally, wanting to touch this and that.
This is really life-saving stuff and every person should be trained in how to deliver them.

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
Easy to do. They don't require a lot of study or practice. Most people can do them nearly instantly, with just a little instruction. In general, they really do work. That doesn't mean every single time you are going to see a miracle, but the science behind assists is solid: they are all about getting the human spirit (the person) into better communication with his or her body and also the present time environment. They nearly always improve the well being of a person, even if only to make them more relaxed, or less stressed out. Sometimes they create a real "miracle" recovery. And they can save lives. Whatever they think of Scientology, most people will rarely turn down an assist. They are often fun to do.
Cons
An assist is not a "cure" or sure fire instant total result. Sometimes they have to be delivered over a period of days or weeks, with the person getting a little better each time. Some assists can sometimes be a bit boring to deliver, particularly in a situation where there is something else radically wrong that really needs to be addressed. Example: a person who is toiling in a very toxic environment in which he or she is trapped, being oppressed directly by a sociopath/psychopath, or a sociopathic/psychopathic group, may experience only minor relief from an assist. The real solution there is to get the person out of that environment.

I have delivered a lot of different assists.
Some very short with a miraculous results like touch assist, cold assist, loss assist and locationals and many others.
The above mentioned assist book is awesome and you can even find programs for specific situations.
When you run an assist program on a person it is not something that might be done in an hour or so. It can take weeks where you repeat different assist on a daily basis. You might not get a lot of change when you start delivering the assist in the beginning. Just keep going on a daily basis and you will be surprised what these simple actions can do to bring about change and recovery.
I used an assist program on a person that had a stroke and was still suffering of some body parts not being under control and when we finished the program the person was fully recovered.
I helped a lot of people with severe headaches/migraines by delivering locationals.
I could go on and on about all the wonderful results I got with assists.
You should have some knowledge about the tone scale so that you can recognize the change and know when you are done.

I've delivered thousands of hours of touch assists, nerve assists, contact assists and other assists. Most of these assists were delivered for free to non-scientologists.

Here are a few "miracles"

A guy slams his thumb in a steel door and it turns blue immediately. A fifteen minute contact assist and the thumb "miraculously" turns back to normal color and the pain is gone. The person I did the assist on pretends it never happened. I just smiled.

I cut my thumb nearly to the bone with a hunting knife. I did a contact assist with the knife and in less than 20 seconds the bleeding stopped. Wow...did that really happen?

Seven weeks of various assists on a guy who has Lupus. Three to four times a week. His blood count goes from 80% off to only 20% off.

I use the "feel the aliveness" assist every time I overtax my body. Nine times out of ten it handles it in less than an hour.

Assists on drug addicts work miracles while they are going through withdrawls. Everyone we've handled on this line has told us that it was the easiest withdrawl they've ever done.

Anita has done assists in hospitals, on more than one occasion bringing patients out of a coma.

If you learn ten or fifteen assists and drill them regularly to keep yourself in practice (takes less than an hour a week) then you will be more likely to have the assist at your fingertips when it is appropriate. Learn them and use the one's you have affinity for. Helping people is a lot of fun.

in 1971, while I was in training as an auditor at Celebrity Centre Los Angeles, I arrived at my apartment to find a young man lying on the sidewalk, motionless. I went over to him and spoke to him, and touched his hand lightly, with no response whatsoever. There was no obvious sign of injury. I had been studying the CCH's and decided to use CCH 1 on him as an assist. It has one command, "Give me that hand. Thank you."
I started giving the command to the apparently unconscious guy, pausing briefly after to see if he would respond, but there was no response. I picked up his hand with one of my hands, after each command, said "Thank You". And put his hand back. Still no response whatsoever. No eye flutters, no sighing, no response at at.
After about 10 repetitions, taking his hand each time and putting it back, I started to get some very slight resistance, but very weak. Kind of apathetic. then a few commands later, I noticed a sly withdrawal of the hand from mine. Still no change in facial expressions, etc.
I kept on going, as I was taught, as change was occurring, and I was now getting a response from this person who had been utterly as if dead before. After a few more commands, me still taking his hand each time, and putting it back, a sort of angry response ensued.
I was observing this person moving up the Tone Scale, so far from body death, through apathy, covert hostility, and into anger, just as LRH had discovered and described. So I continued.
A short time later, the guy, still with his eyes closed, started gripping my hand antagonistically when I took it, and we were in a brief struggle. I said to myself, "Good, we have reached antagonism!" and I thanked him and put his hand back, and continued the process.
A short time later, the guy was giving me his hand himself, and taking it back, and all of a sudden, he opens his eyes, sits up, looks around a bit, then stands up and says "I'm thirsty - can I have a drink of water?" in a perfectly normal voice.
I told him "End of Assist" and we walked into my apartment, got him a drink of water. Two minutes later, he notices I have a guitar standing against the wall. He asks if he can play it, and he starts playing the guitar and singing a song. Totally normal, and cheerful.
I told him where this had come from - Scientology, and where to find out more if he was interested, and he thanked me and left. It was if the whole experience of him lying unconscious on my sidewalk had been totally erased! I was astounded.
I have been using LRH's tech for over 40 years since then and seen many miracles - this was one of the first I experienced myself, first hand.

From observation, locationals can help people who are out of it, although the "sober up a drunk" aspect seems to be overstated. Contact assists reportedly help and I have heard of good results, but personally I have observed nothing spectacular with one. That said, even today if I bang my hand or something I always do some kind of contact assist.

Now, nerve assists and touch assists are meridian therapies, in that they both "get the chi flowing," helping to even out blockages etc. If the problem is due to, or is being held in place by some imbalance in the subtle energy bodies of the person, then they can help a lot. If, on the other hand, the chi *is* flowing, and there is no imbalance to speak of, they are a complete waste of time! I think this is why sometimes they have no effect at all.

Small auditing actions that could be called assists I am not really addressing here.

I had one assist during an extremely high fever; I feared I was going to go unconscious or die; my temperature was almost "off the chart" of the thermometer. I was able to get a touch assist immediately and within 20 minutes I felt much better; I knew I was going to live and my temperature dropped 4 degrees.

I have also had numerous other assists which relieved pain and generally made me feel better. This was mostly nerve assists and "hello and okays." I have also had assists run on me from one of the Assists Books which consisted of repetitive questions which gave great results.

Assists are an interesting subject. I find them helpful but not magic. The three that I find the most useful are touch assists and nerve assists and locationals.

A locational can bring a person out of a funk by getting him look at things far away and gets him less introverted and I find it is easy to do and usually helps. Of these 3 assists I like this one the most. I really like doing this one on children to make them stop crying.

Touch assists and nerve assists get a person more in communication with his own body and in that way can reduce pain even if temporary. I do not think they are close to the help you can get from a chiropractor or acupunture but they are easy to do and safe and are a handy thing to try to help

They are all easy do and free, with no downside, to do well worth a try.
There are many more assists than these but these are very popular.
